Thank you to those who RSVP'd for our Simple Sandwich Lunch.
If you didn't RSVP, keep your ears and eyes open for the next lunch.
For information about our Simple Sandwich lunch, read through the last several posts on this blog.
Here are a couple of helps for parents of 1st through 5th grade this Sunday- Observing you worship God during the service is one of the biggest benefits of having your child in church.
- Read Romans 3:21 - 31 a couple of times before Sunday morning.
- Remember...
- the Gospel is so simple and is presented in Scripture so clearly.
- Paul uses 3 words that express 3 concepts that are remarkably rich, beautiful and intellectually captivating. The Gospel is HUGE!
- Justification: We are loved and blessed by God because of Jesus and what he did. You can't make God love you more or less because it isn't what you do... It is what Christ has done.
- Redemption: God paid the price for us! He gave us value. Think redeeming cans. They are purchased and recycled.
- Propitiation: This past spring we talked about propitiation with the 1st - 3rd graders. The illustration we used was someone stepping in to take a pie in the face that I deserved.
- These three words are BIG WORDS and BIG TRUTHS! Here is a great quote to remember "We give our children big truths they will grow into rather than light explanations they will grow out of." Tedd & Margy Tripp, Instructing a Child's Heart.
- A great listening activity is have your kids listen for key words that begin with each letter of the alphabet. Tell them you are going to ask why they wrote down the words they did.
- Check out previous Kids in Church posts HERE.
- Next week, check out this seminar Teaching the Difficult Doctrines in Children's Ministry. The reason I say next week is because I am hoping you will be at the Biblical Counseling Conference this weekend. It is an hour long but it really helps explain what we are trying to do in our children's ministry. The speaker gives some good illustrations that would be helpful in explaining difficult doctrines.
