God raises Moses to lead Israel (Family Guide) 04.10

This week's EKIDZ memory verse is
James 1:2
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds.

What a great verse to memorize and meditate on during Mission's Month.

Here are some other family devotions helps from this week's lesson.

The Family Devotional Book from Generations of Grace
has 5 days of devotional thoughts and questions
related to each week's lessons.
Here are the 5 topics for this week's lesson

Day 1
God chose a humble man.

Exodus  3:1-10

Day 2
God confirmed His own power
Exodus 3:11-4:17

Day 3
God gave Moses success
Exodus 4:18-31

Day 4
God is the God of the living
Matthew 22:23-33

Day 5
Jesus is the “I AM”
John 8:58-59

Day 5 of each week is a New Testament/Gospel Connection
to the lesson.

Here is a reading activity we did in the 1st - 3rd grade 10:30 class
that you can do with your wife.

Listen to Exodus 3:11-4:17 on a website or app.
Note the 5 different times Moses questioned God.
Discuss how God answered each of Moses' objections.
Think about how you can pray for your family and our missionaries
to make an impact for God and His glory.

God sends John the Baptist 12/20's EKIDZ lesson

This past Sunday's EKIDZ lesson was John the Baptist.
What does John the Baptist have to do with Christmas?

Here are the last 3 week's of EKIDZ lessons
December 6 - God announces the coming Messiah in Genesis 3
December 13 - God announces the coming Messiah in the prophets
December 20 - God prepares the way of the coming Messiah through John the Baptist

Jesus was not an after thought in God's mind.
Jesus was the plan from the beginning.

This week's Memory Verse
While Romans 15:13 is not part of the Christmas story,
it does speak about hope, joy and peace.
Major themes at Christmas.
This is not the hope, joy and peace of the world.
It is a hope that is grounded in God and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
It is joy and peace that comes from God and God alone.

A New Winter Quarter begins Sunday!

Our new quarter starts this weeks.

The first five weeks of the quarter have a Christmas theme:
The lessons on December 6 and 13 are God promises to send a Messiah.
The lesson on December 20 is God send John the Baptist.
The lesson on December 27 is God reveals the Messiah.
The lesson on January 3 is the wise men worship Jesus.

Then on January 10 we get back into our "Through the Bible" study with Genesis 21 where God sends a promised child, Isaac.

To see our schedule for Bible stories, memory verses, missionaries and ministries, click on the picture or link below!

The quarterly guide will be posted soon.
Part of the quarterly is an explanation of what we are doing in our children's ministry.  Here is this information.
We want families to evaluate every time commitment in light of God’s plan for you, your children and your family.  We want to equip parents to point their families and others to Jesus Christ.
In our EKIDZ ministry, we purposefully do less so that families can do more for the glory of God
The following articles explains this “less for more” in more detail  www.timothypauljones.com/2013/10/21/family-ministry-doing-less-so-that-parents-can-do-more/
Weekly Family Devotions
http://ekidzministry.blogspot.com/2015/06/family-devotions-once-week.html  We want to encourage families to gather once a week gather together for family worship, which might include Bible reading, prayer and singing.  You can also order a family devotional guide
Kids in Church
At least twice a quarter, we have kids 1st grade and older in the service.  For more about these Sundays check out  http://ekidzministry.blogspot.com/p/kids-in-church.html

Genesis 1 - 9: Review

This week is a review week!

Here is a great way to review this week's lesson using
something Pastor Duke mentioned in his sermon on October 11.

During this week take chapter a day and read through it with your child
and note promises made to Adam & Eve, Cain and Noah.

The Crime Happening in Your Church & Preparing for the Beginning!!

This is taken from an article that was posted in 2013.
"Last year my oldest son went through a phase where he refused to finish his dinner and frankly his mother and I were tired of trying to meet his every whim. After going back and forth without any progress, I decided we would only feed him once a week. It was risky I know. As you can imagine the first week his energy level dropped and he wasn’t his normal energetic self. The good news however was every Sunday I took him out to eat at a nice restaurant and let someone else feed him. He was able to fill up, but then it was back to no food during the week.”Let me stop here.
Obviously, THE ABOVE DID NOT TAKE PLACE. However, it is happening spiritually every week in homes around the world.
THE PROBLEM:  The Crime
Parents are outsourcing the complete spiritual training of their children out to church leadership and hoping for the best.  Most Moms and Dads have bought the lie that a couple of hours in Kid’s church will give their kids everything they need for their spiritual growth. Wrong.

To find out how EBC is trying to fight this PROBLEM continue reading.
We have several resources to help parents know what their kids are learning about and engage their kids in what they are learning.

WEEKLY TAKE HOME SHEETS:  Each week, in your child's classroom there are half sheets with the memory verse, some questions and application points from that week's lesson, prayer items which include one of missionary families and an EBC related ministry.

QUARTERLY FAMILY MINISTRY GUIDE:  This is a collection of the weekly guides for the whole quarter.  These are available in the rack by the check in area and online.

YEAR LONG FAMILY DEVOTIONAL BOOK:  This brand new resource from Generations of Grace is available for purchase at www.generationsofgrace.com.  This book contains 5 daily devotions for each lesson.  You can view a sample of the first two weeks HERE.

CHURCH-WIDE BIBLE MEMORY PROGRAM:  We have set up our EKIDZ Bible memory verse system for 2 years old through adults.  You can find out more at blog.emmanuelbaptist.com/biblememory

KIDS IN CHURCH:  At least twice a quarter, we don't have our regularly schedule 1st - 3rd grade program for kids.  On these Sunday's kids are in the church with their parents, grandparents or other adults.  You can find out more about this by clicking HERE

SOME SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES TO HELP FAMILIES:  On September 20, we are having a Simple Sandwich lunch for families with kids 5th grade under.  Read more about it HERE

Your Role in Discipling Your Kids!

Parents, I want to remind you of the motivating principle in our children's ministry.
Parents are the primary disciple makers in their children's lives.

With this being said I want to remind you of some discipleship resources.

For children in our EKIDZ classes:
Each quarter we provide families with a weekly guide for each week's lesson.
Paper copies are available at the wall rack by the check-in kiosk.
Electronic copies can be download by clicking HERE
Each week a family worship guide is sent home with your child.
Paper copies are available in each classroom
Electronic copies can be viewed by HERE
For children in the 10:30 service with their families (4th and 5th graders and others by families decision):
You may want to check out www.emmanuelbaptist.com/sunday.php for sermon notes. This could help you and your child prepare for Sunday.
Here are some ideas to help your family
read through the passages that will be used on Sunday.
note key ideas, quotes or points you want your child to remember.
maybe even think about a note taking method (listen for certain words, note big ideas or other ideas).

Biblical Counseling & Inside Out

http://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/talking-about-inside-out

Here is a part of the article.

Value of Emotions
The main premise of the movie is spot-on: we should be aware of our emotions, and each emotion has value. Joy, the quarterback of the team, believes it’s their collective goal to make Riley always happy. When Sadness tries to have a word, Joy responds with sweet control: “This is really the opposite of what we’re going for.” [Mild spoiler alert] But, through a series of events, she learns that Sadness has a necessary role too (and by implication, so do Fear, Anger, and Disgust). The audience sees by the end that happiness is not the only goal of emotional health.
And that’s a good lesson that a biblical theology of personhood would agree with. The full spectrum of emotion is part of our design, and should be acknowledged and expressed in healthy ways. But to what end do we acknowledge our emotions? To simply find the value in our sadness as well as our joy?

INCREDIBLE Combined Sunday!

This Sunday morning during the 9:00 am Bible teaching hour, we have a combined Family Worship time with an INCREDIBLE theme.
We will be
hearing about INCREDIBLE ministry opportunities.
honoring INCREDIBLE disciple-makers.
worshipping our INCREDIBLE God.

Plan to come out and be a part of this special service.

One important part of this time will be an example of family worship using this week's EKIDZ lesson, "The Gentiles receive the Gospel" from Acts 10:1 - 11:18

You can find out more about this special Sunday at http://blog.emmanuelbaptist.com/incredible/

Family Worship Guide for 04.26

Great resource to remember this week's memory verse:
http://www.challies.com/resources/visual-theology-think-on-these-things

Talk with your kids about how you were saved.

A great part of this week's passage, Acts 3, 4, to think about this week is
"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved."  Acts 4:12

Share Jesus with others.
Invite others to Sonshine.
Think about what you do on Sunday morning.
