Joshua  1:1—9

Principle:

God requires believers to live as His Servant

Prompt:    

Ask your child these questions:

What did God command Joshua?

What did God promise Joshua?

How did God fulfill His promise to give Israel the     Promised Land?

Practice: 

Help your child apply these truths in the following ways:

By being strong and courageous in serving God.

By memorizing and meditating on God’s Word.

Verses: 

2 year olds through kinder: 2 Corinthians 9:8a

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, 

1^st through 5^th grade:  2 Corinthians 12:9

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Some Kids Almost in Church resources from today!

This Sunday we had a Kids Almost in Church Sunday.

This post has several of the things we did with the 1st through 3rd graders today.
While it was a challenging message for kids to understand, it also is a challenging message for adults.
We used the morning to try to help the kids learn another way to listen when they are in the service.
One of the methods we have used in the past was the ABC's.
Listen for key words that begin with each letter of the alphabet.

Today, we used a different method
using the regular sermon note sheet.
You can use this same method with your kids.

We listened for specific words,  Most are highlighted in the pdf above but not all of them
The connected words promise/covenant/faithful are highlighted in blue.
The connected words God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Christ and Messiah are highlighted in purple.

The big idea was "God is faithful."

Another Kids Almost in Church Sunday!

Much of this post is from a previous post about Kids Almost in Church

Tomorrow is a Kids Almost in Church Sunday.  This is our second one of these Sundays for the 1st through 3rd graders.

What does almost in church mean?
Every Sunday children gather with the Church, the body of believers even if they are not in the auditorium.


But this Sunday is a training time for the kids.
We will be watching the sermon in the back.  I will help the kids learn how to listen and take notes during Pastor Duke's sermon.

You and your family are more than welcome to come back to the children's chapel and watch the sermon with us. 
OR you can have your child sit with you during the service in the auditorium.
Actually, I would strongly encourage you to either 
come back and watch the sermon with your child and the rest of us
OR have your child sit with you in the auditorium.

This will be helpful for your child in his/her active participation in the sermon and for you parenting and discipling. 
We will go over some very practical ways for your child to be actively involved in the sermons.
We will talk about some of the specific points from this upcoming Sunday's message.

1. A major part of our EKIDZ ministry is helping children understand their role in our church.  We don't want to entertain and babysit children until they are a certain age.  We want remind children that if they have been saved by grace they are part of the His church.
2. This Sunday is a great time to begin training them and continue training the others on how to be appropriately and actively involved in a Sunday service.

As usual we will be in the service during the music and announcements.

Know that it is our goal to help you disciple your child or children. 
That is why we do the things we do.
