Some Great Resources at EBC tomorrow!

Last week we had a Kids in Church Sunday to help parents & children in church on Sundays.
Two parents will be challenged to disciple their children.

Randy Patten is preaching and teaching tomorrow morning.
He will also have a resource table in the foyer.
Here are just a few of the great parenting books available tomorrow.

The subtitle of Don't Make Me Count to Three is
A Mom's Look at Heart Oriented Discipline.
Click HERE for more about this book.
"We should expect instant obedience from our children.  Teach them that God wants them to obey 'all the way, right away and with a happy heart."  117

Any or all of these three books are great foundational book.
We will be offering Shepherding a Child's Heart
in our Bible Teaching Hour (9:00 am)
during the winter quarter

I have not read The Ology but have heard many good things about it.
HERE is one review.

We will be posting more resources after Sunday's message.

Saturday Night Helps!

With 1st through 5th graders, you should talk about communion before the service.
I mentioned this in yesterday's POST.

Here are some reminders for every Satuday as you prepare for Sunday from R. Kent Hughes in Disciplines of Godly Man

Sometimes by the time we get to church, worship is an impossiblity....  The answer to the problem begins with Saturday preparation.  (Any men who interpret the following as women's work are wrong.  Both husband and wife should share responsibility for the practical and spiritual preparations for the Lord's Day.)  It is advisable that young families have their clothing clean and laid out on Saturday night, and even that the breakfast be decided upon.  The whereabout of Bible and lessons should be known, and even better, ought to be collected and ready.  There should be an agreed upon time to get up which leaves plenty of time to get ready for church.  Going to bed at reasonable hour is also a good idea.  Spiritually, prayer about the Lord's Day is essential - prayer for the service, the music, the pastors, one's family and oneself.

Some Specific Sermon Helps

We have been helping/training the 1st through 3rd graders how to be part of the services.

SINGING Each week, we take them into the service doing the singing portion before coming back for their lesson.

SERMONS
Two or three times a quarter we have the Kids in Church with their parents, like this Sunday
OR
we watch the sermon live and help the kids take notes and apply to the sermon to their lives using the white board and some interactive questions.  This is a picture of Cindy Newsome connecting Pastor Duke's June 19th sermon with the previous week's EKIDZ lesson.

Parents you can print out or look at the sermon notes for you and your kids at www.emmanuelbaptist.com/sunday/

COMMUNION
During the May Impact Service, Pastor Dave spoke to families about how to talk with your child about Communion.  You can see this post HERE.

The alphabet part on the back is a note taking help we have used with the kids.  They have practiced listening for important words that begin with each letter.
The kids were told almost every letter of the alphabet will be used during this message.

Some of the words are...
ASCENDED
DWELL
KING
MEDIATOR
REPENT
TREASURE
UTTER DEPENDENCE
XENOPHOBIC

Check back Saturday night for more helps!
