Just to remind you that the reason we occasionally have the children in the service with their parents and/or grandparents is because we believe parents are the primary disciple makers in a child's life.
While there are challenges with having children in the service, there are benefits.
- Children need to see their parents worshiping the Lord in singing songs and in listening to sermons. Some of the material in the service may be over the child's head but think about what they are observing in you.
- Children need training in how to be actively involved in a worship service. By actively involved we mean singing passionately, taking notes and listening. We have the kids in the service only a couple of times but we still believe this time is very important for worship/heart training.
- Families have the opportunity to talk about the sermon and ways they can live out and help one another live out the message.
Think about how this Sunday's "Kids in Church" works together with other things we are doing...
- Some of our Soul Care groups have families, this would be a great week to have everyone together to talk about the sermon.
- Last week's very familiar story of David and Goliath is a great sermon to talk through with your child.
- Our parenting class is Shepherding a Child's Heart by Paul Tripp.
